Flash:  Studio Residency Open Call

44AD artspace is delighted to announce that B&NES council will be funding 3x FLASH Artist Studio Residencies to take place at 44AD artspace, as part of our ongoing FLASH events programme.

Each Flash Artist Residency will include:

•   Provision of 20 m sq Studio Space (for 7 weeks)
•   Fully supported exhibition in 44AD’s ground floor Gallery Space
    (for 1 week)
•   £100 towards art materials

Flash Artist Residency

The FLASH residency will be awarded via application (to include a project proposal). Each successful applicant will be offered the Basement Gallery Space at 44AD‘s prominent premises in central Bath, to use as a project space to work in.

The first B&NES supported FLASH studio residency dates will run: 20 July – 06 Sept 2015
The accompanying FLASH exhibition will run: 31 Aug – 06 Sept 2015.

The project space will be available to the successful candidate between 8am to 8pm daily, and open to the public during gallery working hours (12 noon - 6pm). Wifi is available.

44AD currently facilitates 18 on-site studio artists, therefore each FLASH resident artist will be creating and making within a supportive environment, whilst the public will have the opportunity to engage with the artistic process, and not just the ‘finished’ artwork...

Throughout the 8 weeks studio residency, each FLASH resident artist will be expected to deliver a programme of (free admission) FLASH events at 44AD artspace.
In total: 3 x (2 hour) workshops and 3 x (1 hour informal group discussion sessions) to the local and wider community.

The FLASH Residency will culminate in a one week exhibition in 44AD’s fantastic ground floor gallery; with a Private View hosted at the beginning of the week and a FLASH: (a viewing and conversation event held around either the finished or work in progress) at the end. This is a great opportunity for the resident artist to gather feedback from both the visiting public and peers.

FLASH Residency and associated events will be fully marketed and promoted by 44AD.

Priority for B&NES supported FLASH Artist Residencies will be given to artists, who may not necessarily have the opportunity and financial resource to make work in a studio environment and afford exhibiting costs.

Application deadline: 14 June 2015
Successful applicants will be notified by: 19 June 2015

Each FLASH Artist residency will be awarded via a selection panel.
