Gallery room 1 will host an exhibition of paintings and mixed media by Brian Rusher.

About two years ago local artist Brian Rusher came to something of a crossroads in his life and decided to donate a sizeable collection of his artwork to Dorothy House.

The artwork in this exhibition comprises mixed media creations originated mainly in acrylics, pastels and collage, where his subject matter is inspired by personal experiences, his environment and extensive travel including periods of living in southwest France, India and Switzerland. This has resulted in a close affinity with landscapes as well as ancient and tribal cultures, their customs, beliefs and art-forms.

Omnipotent

Brian Rusher originally trained at art school followed by an accomplished career in Graphics and Advertising, where he won national Design awards, and now creates personal artworks alongside teaching Art and Design. The artist’s work has been purchased and displayed privately in the UK, France, USA, Holland and Switzerland as well as exhibited at galleries in England, France, Canada and India.

Dorothy House are extremely grateful to Brian for his generous donation to the charity. Some key pieces will carry a reserve, but the majority of the exhibition catalogue will sell for what you, the buyer, feels it is worth!

Brian Rusher currently teaches Visual Arts in the international sector in Switzerland and has taught in schools and colleges across Wiltshire, France and India. He has also operated Art as therapy workshops locally and in France.
