Over half a century of being bombarded by media messages that are, at best, useless and at worst generators of great insecurity, sparked a desire to manipulate their outcome.

Images and wording from magazines, scalpels, glue, and a sprinkle of digital assistance have given me a rebellious freedom of creation. I work intuitively as the source materials always have their own life that adds new significance, often in unpredictable ways. The meaning is formed as the work progresses. I address the perpetual human preoccupation with vanity, consumerism, fashion, fame, mortality, sex, gender, wealth and power, as well as ponder the cultural expectations of the sexes, the domestic space and the treatment of the body and youth as a commodity. Some pieces have a dark mood, some are angry, others are plain silly. There are also various self-portraits.

My aim is to make the audience question the society they take for granted, but I have also been told my art enlightens, confuses, and amuses.

Inspiration: Hannah Höch, Linder, Martha Rosler, Cindy Sherman, Sarah Lucas, Eva Stenram.
