Dr KAREN WALLIS is an artist living in Bath. Each year she spends most of July and August in Orkney, as Artist in Residence on the Ness of Brodgar archaeological dig. Her work reveals the everyday process of archaeology and its connections to Neolithic human activity visible in the present. She uses sketchbook drawing, plein air painting, and sound recordings to create installations of mixed media and film.

MATTERS of LIFE & MUD: a relationship with what’s found in the ground, will show work made since she started the residency in 2016, together with reflections on her previous residency at The HOLBURNE MUSUEM during the redevelopment between 2008 and 2011. The latter includes an unfinished project with her brother STEPHEN MILLS, a member of MUDSLINGERS, the potters collective in Bath.
