About the artists
Ann and Jane are sisters who were both drawn to working in clay alongside other jobs back in the 1990s. Over the years they developed their skills through classes and specialist workshops, before decided to buy their first second hand kiln together in 2014.
From those early days, Ann has since developed a love of throwing on the wheel and exploring the many possibilities for glazing and decoration. She also makes prints. Meanwhile Jane has focused more on hand-building and extruding clay forms, before turning her hand more recently to working with kiln formed glass.
Hosting a joint exhibition has been talked about for some time, and Ann’s moon jars and Jane’s glass planets seemed to be a good starting point for a joint exhibition of their work. Beyond this, the exhibition draws on their joint interest in texture and particularly encouraging the surface of the object to change through crackle or crawl. The exhibition also features new work they have co-created.
