44AD is delighted to present Motherhood, a group exhibition by six female artists:
Hamideh Abel
Alice Buckee
Thaïs Lenkiewicz
Joanna Lynch
Laura Murray
Alys Scott-Hawkins
All are from the Painter Painter collective, an international group of contemporary painters brought together through the Turps Correspondence Course 2025/26.
The exhibition explores the many dimensions of the maternal experience. From birth and nurturing to memory, identity, resilience and transformation, the works reflect the complexity of motherhood as a life-changing and unpredictable journey.
Working across painting, printmaking and drawing, the six artists explore the emotional shifts and recurring cycles of parenthood, examining how the creative act of becoming a mother both informs and challenges their artistic practice. Through abstract and figurative works, they capture experiences that often go unseen and resist expression through words alone, offering powerful insights into the personal and universal narratives of motherhood.
