44AD artspace is delighted to announce the upcoming exhibition SEEN AGAIN, featuring a collection of paintings by talented Theo Dunford.

A young artist recently out of foundation college, Theo was the winner of the Bath Open Art Prize Gallery award 2023, annually sponsored by 44AD.

“I’m so glad that Theo won this prize because, despite his age, he is showing great potential and an exciting approach to his art,” says Anna Kot, Coordinator of the Bath Open Art Prize (FAB Fringe Art Bath).

Theo received a three month studio residency at 44AD artspace, followed by a solo exhibition in the gallery space. His paintings are a manifestation of momentary impressions of his perception, as well as ideas about how he wishes the subject to be translated and seen again.

“At 44AD artspace we are committed to promoting contemporary art and supporting emerging artists. It’s been great to see Theo’s dedication and how he has embraced this opportunity to create a series of new work for SEEN AGAIN, his first solo exhibition. And for us, at the studios, it has been fascinating to see the process behind his practice; an observation of still life assemblages using sculptural props and handmade viewing apparatus, which he uses as a conduit to explore colour and shape. The resulting paintings have a beautiful geometric aesthetic which really draw the viewer in,” says Katie O’Brien, Project Director at 44AD artspace.

Theo will be giving a tour and talk of his show on Thursday 01 February at 11am (free admission).
