This exhibition preview on the 26th September will include a talk on animist process by Charlotte Rodgers and the Premier Showing of Glen Tommy’s animated short, ‘Down to Spinny’ followed by Glen Tomney discussing the film and his art.

Charlotte Rodgers
Charlotte Rodgers is an untrained, animist artist. She acknowledges the voices of the dead and the discarded that are trapped in material objects, by giving them articulation in new form.
Her work has been exhibited in London, Dublin, New York and Sweden and she has pieces on permanent display in the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art in Serbia.
Charlotte has been awarded an Arts Council grant to blog on the New York art scene and was funded to make a film of her work for The Magic and Ecology Symposium and Art Exhibition organised by CRASSH/University of Cambridge. Her work is featured in the upcoming book published by the TATE by Amy Hale: Magic: Beyond the Supernatural in Contemporary Art.
Charlotte also writes articles, essays and books.The books include the titles P is for Prostitution, The Bloody Sacrifice and The Sky is a Gateway not a Ceiling.
She frequently speaks at events and conferences and has given presentations at venues as diverse as The Museum of Morbid Anatomy in New York, The Schloss Pienzenau and Brunnenberg in Merano, Husets Biograf in Copenhagen, Edinburgh University, York University and Occulture Berlin.
Glen Tomney
Glen Tomney is a Liverpool born, Derby based artist who works with fantasy themes inspired by a fusion of popular culture, Surrealism, psychedelia, and folk horror.
Fascinated by drawing from childhood, his early work were caricatures inspired by the film, ‘Paint your Wagon’ and when he creates now he strives to add as much detail as possible. He uses pen and ink for his black and white work, after initial use of pencil, very much like the 2000AD comics he loved as a teenager. Glen also paints in oils and acrylics and occasionally uses water coloured pencils and ink as well as collage and assembled materials such as crystals and bones and beads; his mediums being a detailed and joyful dance through painting, drawing, collage, assemblage, art models and stop motion animation.
Together with Scott B, he formed the dark ambient duo ‘Black Pit Lock’ in which Glen provides drones, guitar and samples. Glen also plays a variety of instruments in his own musical project Nordri.
Glen recently completed his first film, Down to Spinny using stop motion animation as his medium. The film tells the story of a nihilistic force draining nature; showing what happens when nature fights back.
