Taking pART

An exhibition of work by ‘Love to Learn’ students from the City of Bath College.

Exhibition runs:  Thurs 26th Feb  -  Sun 1st March

Open:  Thurs 26 Feb 1pm – 4pm,   Fri 27 Feb 11am – 4pm,   Sat 28 Feb 10am – 4pm,   Sun 01 March 11am – 3pm

Many part-time students will be showcasing their creative talents with a four-day exhibition of their artwork.

Taking Part will feature an impressive variety of printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fashion, textiles, jewellery, sculpture, photography and papermaking.

All the students displaying their work are studying Love2learn courses at City of Bath College and it will be the first time many of them have publicly showed their work.

The annual exhibition aims to give more than 200 part-time students the chance to show and sell their work in a professional gallery.

The show is open to the public from Thursday, February 26th to Sunday, March 1st.

Sally Gaden, Printmaking leader at City of Bath College, said the exhibition was a celebration of the students’ hard work and commitment throughout the year.

She said:  “The popular Love2learn Art and Design classes at City of Bath College provide rich and exciting opportunities for all.”

“Beginners to advanced students work alongside one another, learning from inspirational and specialist staff to produce some amazing and original creative work.”

The Art and Design department at City of Bath College has an excellent reputation for producing artists and has been graded ‘outstanding’ in four consecutive Ofsted inspections.

Alongside its full-time courses, the Love2learn part-time programme encourages adults to learn something they’ve always wanted to learn with courses often held in the evening and on Saturdays to fit in with people’s busy lifestyles.

Courses on offer include Ceramics, Creative Writing, Digital Art and Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Sculpture and Book Binding.

The Art and Design department is also planning to increase its part-time offerings from September, to include The World History of Art, Homecrafts, Painting Bath’s Cityscape, Woodcarving and Sewing Machines for Beginners.

The Love2learn prospectus is available to pick up at the Student Advice Centre in the Roper Building on James Street West.
