Together / Apart is an exhibition of selected images submitted by photographers on Instagram and Flickr, via the hashtag #togetherapartexhibition. Part of the concept for this exhibition was to show images in a different context to the way in which they are often viewed. Many contributors normally post their work exclusively online, and Together / Apart is a way for their pictures to be shown as physical prints, and alongside other photographs.

The theme of the exhibition centres on a sense of community, or the vacuum that is created without it within wider society. This idea has stimulated each photographer to think independently about what social community means to them, and to respond with their own creative vision. In this way, Together / Apart has attracted a diverse array of people and a unique collage of images.

The exhibition is planned and hosted by Jonathon Stephenson, a third year Publishing student at Bath Spa University. The exhibition forms part of his coursework submission for a Creative Enterprise project. A passionate photographer in his own right, Jonathon saw this exhibition as an opportunity to encourage creative photographers to collaborate and connect in a new way.
